Colour adjustments

Colour adjustments

In Nebulb you have two controls to adjust the intensity of the colours in the image: "Vibrance" and "Saturation".

Vibrance

With the "Vibrance" slider it is possible to modify the saturation of the image in a more selective way (depending on the level of saturation of each colour). In other words, increasing the vibrance affects less saturated colours more, while decreasing the vibrance affects more saturated colours more.

In a way, the "Vibrance" slider allows you to balance the saturation of the image, equalising the saturation between the most and least saturated colours in the image.

Below you can see an example of the effect that can be obtained with this colour adjustment:

Saturation

On the other hand, this slider can be used to modify the saturation of the image in a more general way (although in this case it also tries to prevent the possible oversaturation of the most saturated colours).

Here is the same example as above, but now modifying "Saturation" instead of "Vibrance":

IMPORTANT: Colour perception is a highly subjective thing (some people like more saturated colours and others like less saturated colours), so there is no general recommendation on how to apply these two settings. Just try them both and leave them as you like the colour of the image. However, it is usually a good idea to check the image again after a while, as this way you can get a more objective impression of the final image and, in case you are not convinced by something, you can modify some of the adjustments.
