Image export formats

When exporting the images processed in Nebulb you can select from several available image formats:

  1. TIFF (uncompressed): The TIFF format is the one that allows you to save the image with the highest quality, although it is also the one that generates larger files. Therefore, it is the recommended format in case you want to finish processing the image in other software.
  1. TIFF (LZW compression): Generates images of the same quality as the uncompressed TIFF format, but in this case the generated files take up a little less space thanks to the LZW compression (lossless compression). It is also ideal for finishing image processing in other software.
  1. TIFF (ZIP compression): Generates images of the same quality as the uncompressed TIFF format, but in this case the generated files take up a little less space thanks to ZIP compression (lossless compression). It is also ideal for finishing image processing in other software.
  1. JPEG: This is the most widely used format for the exchange and publication of images over the Internet. Thus, it is the recommended format in case you want to send or publish the image directly, although it is not the best format to continue processing the image in other software (for that purpose the TIFF format is much better).
  1. PNG: It is a format widely used for publishing images or graphics on websites, but it is true that it is not a format widely used for photographic images.

In the case of selecting the JPEG format, the "Quality" drop-down list is enabled so that you can select the quality at which you want to export the image, since JPEG is a lossy compression format. As you can see below, you can select between 4 quality levels for the image exported as JPEG: Maximum (highest possible quality images, but larger files), High, Medium and Low (generates the smallest files, but also the lowest quality images).

In this way, you can select the quality level that best suits your intended use of the image, taking into account which is the most limiting factor (quality vs. file size).

IMPORTANT: Regardless of the format or quality with which you export the image, in Nebulb the images are always kept with the original quality (uncompressed, at 32-bits per channel and in the color space of the camera), so you can export the images as many times and in as many formats as you need because the original quality of the image is not affected.
